Mount Hope Cemetery
Sometimes its hard to find time to give to the not for profit groups in the Rochester area, Today I found the time to make some updates to the friends of mount hope website, www.fomh.org
There website has done very well for them once I had redesigned it, a few years ago. As things change and I have found some new codes, updates where inevitable.
Now I think they can be proud of the new updated website.

Connor Landscaping
My dad has been running a landscaping business for the past 2 years now and has done a wonderful job in residential landscaping design. I have had the pleasure on going with him on a few jobs and giving him a hand when it was needed.
As a designer I saw he could use some help with some of his marketing so I helped him out by getting him some new business cards and a web page where he can show off some of his work.
You can find his web page here. It's not big or fancy, it has everything he needs, a photo gallery to show off his work, his services and contact information.
If you like custom service and want to make some improvements to you're garden I highly recommend giving him a call. He may very well be just what you were looking for in a Landscaping Guy.

Thoughts on Website Design
In the know, so often I hear of website design cases that didn't keep a simple and effective approach to there website design and it ends up costing them in the end.
Keeping it simple, is how I develop and design websites. With my branding I tell people that I develop simple, effective and affordable websites.
So what that means is the development that goes into my website design is custom and simple. Websites are made to change and grow with the company they are built for. As new information, content and images change the website must be accommodating in the design to incorporate these changes, quickly in most cases.
The design and coding behind is simple, not overly complicated so that these changes can happen fast, when changes become faster to make they also become cheeper to make. I have seen some websites with Flash built into the whole thing and lots of bells and whistles. Changes here can be very costly and can take time to make. Over all keep your budget and your goals for the web page in mind when building or having someone develop your website.
My focus is more on local businesses who need people to see they have a business, what they do - service or product, and where to find them or how to go about getting the product.
Getting found is also an important part of website design. Thats why I try to incorporate both into the design of every web page I build. Good graphics and good content is how to make a successful web page.

Sitemaps and Pagerank
The following is a great video feed to an interview with Google's Vanessa Fox from Google talking about page rank and site-maps.
Video
So with google sitemaps, I agree and have seen the proof in that if you add or develop a new website, this tool will get Google crawling it. I have also had success with getting pages spidered that have not been spidered previously. I use it with my customers because there is proof that it works.
With page-rank though, there are a lot of myths out there. Page-rank is something I use as an indicator of success and problems. I don't proactively use page rank as the main tool in determining if I should have a link in there website.
If it produces traffic and the traffic reaches page goals then success has been found. Page-rank has very little to do with page goals. Relevance is the key to unlocking anyones SEO or SEM, and its been my experience that this should be examined by page. Although projects may take longer to see results, once you do they last longer and help out internal traffic of your visitors.

Internet Marketing,
I started with doing small local websites and really haven’t moved from that realm in my career. The local website seem to be the hardest to see big results with as far as traffic goes. This is due to the website being searched for by the local market that its in. What this means is that the smaller business has to take advantage of all the combinations of marketing they can to get that traffic. Something I refer to, be that it’s not always about quantity, quality traffic is way better in most cases.
